Alpine Forest Biodiversity Assessment — Sagarmatha NP

Solukhumbu District, Nepal Published: March 26, 2026

Worked on October 1, 2024

Objective: Quantify vascular plant species richness across an elevational gradient (2,800–3,600m).

Methodology: Established 18 circular plots along three parallel transects. Identified all vascular plants.

Findings: Recorded 47 vascular plant species; species richness peaked at mid-elevation.

Learnings: South-facing aspect effect was stronger than expected — will stratify by aspect in future surveys.

Avian mortality along power lines in Pokhara valley, Nepal.

The primary objective of this research was to quantify bird mortality associated with power line infrastructure in the Pokhara Valley, Nepal, where such impacts have been poorly documented. The study aimed to identify species most affected by electrocution and collision, assess how mortality varies with environmental and infrastructural factors, and provide evidence‑based recommendations for mitigating avian fatalities to support conservation planning
